    " Que leer” magazine
    The power of feminity
Spectacular book about belly dancing wrote by Devorah Korek, currently living in Barcelona and dedicating more than 27 years to this world.
Devorah has her own academy in Barcelona and worked as director and choreographer for various dance and ethnic music groups that performed internationally. Now, in her book, she presents a lot of moves, the history of this dance and its benefits, the particularities of different styles (Debke, Tunisian, Turkish, Khaligi) and also gives advice on how to choose the music , the wardrobe or how to use your best attributes. To teach oriental dances, Devorah uses the Sarabi method, a system based mainly on the ideaof having fun while dancing, loosening the body, relaxing your mind, learning the moves step by step and by imitation.

(…) well-known more as a millennia-old art form than a simple way of entertaining, belly dance brings up the fullness and the fertility of women, the birth and sexual fusion. It is the feminine expression of the forces of nature and love. This book talks about the theories regarding origins of dance, the most popular styles, main moves, basic exercises, a dancer’s wardrobe and also a step-by-step technique to learn belly dancing, among many other themes.

(…) “Belly dance. The most sensual dance in the world, explained step by step¨ (Oceano Publishing House, 2005). This luxury edition, cared for until the last detail, is a pleasure for the eyes. Very well taken care of (we are tired of seeing unworthy editions everywhere), the book includes a complete selection of photos and a documentary with plenty of details about the multiple faces of this dance. With a foreword from Farida Fahmy, the book was written by Devorah, dancer, founder and manager of the Sarabi School in Barcelona. The historic and anthropologic approach and the different interpretations given to this dance across time and civilizations presented in the book make it a very pleasant reading. No aspect related to dance is left untreated; hence we have in front of us a practical book with encyclopaedia features. Perfectly structured in well-defined chapters, it is very easy to find what you are looking for. The parts that present the warm-up Sarabi style, the different step patterns that go together with the explanatory drawings are illustrated with full-colour photos done by Jordi Garcia.  The book also includes special chapters dedicated to music or wardrobe and a final glossary.
