  • ¿WHAT IS THE SARABI® METHOD?

Sarabi® is a belly dance teaching method that aims to simplify the technique by working with basic concepts. The goal is to apply this method in order to enjoy the dancing experience, by putting an emphasis on the pleasure of dancing itself and using this experience to increase the awareness that each person has about his/her own body.

This is obtained by applying the knowledge on how the body works, for example, by visualizing the movements made as if you were moving in a 3-D invisible crystal globe. In other words, with Sarabi® the movements are analyzed as a way to simplify and thus learn the technique, always being true to the belly dance typical steps.

Basically, the method is about managing basic concepts, putting an emphasis on separating the parts of the body and working with the articulations in order to create the characteristic movements of this beautiful dance style: infinites (maya), spirals, circles, straight lines…

Other concepts include the relation between the belly dance and the Sacred Geometry, the importance of using the body in a balanced manner, at a lateral level too, (developing the left-right coordination) and exercises that create a stronger connection between the brain, the psycho-emotional component and the body.

The intention is to go beyond simply learning a dance style (which, by the way, has very good results!). Sarabi® can offer a way of being more consistent with oneself, unblocking and liberating the patterns trapped in the memory of the cells as a consequence of the events experienced by the physical component of the body.

The Sarabi® method suggests a way of elevating belly dance to being a method of body awareness and personal growth.
